M & M Cookies

Digging for some tea bags to fill my container that i keep in my desk at work, i found a bag of mini M&Ms. I know they have been there since before Christmas, i thought they must be lonely!! Bored out of my mind, because i am off work at three this week and it makes for a long evening, i decided to do some baking. I did a quick internet search and found this recipe on the M&Ms website.

M&M Cookies

1 cup butter, softened.
1/2 cup white sugar.
1/2 cup light brown sugar.
1 egg.
1 tsp vanilla.
2 cups flour.
1/2 tsp baking soda.
3/4 cup M&Ms.
3/4 cup walnuts (optional)

Cream butter and sugars. Add egg and vanilla, mix well. Sift together flour and soda, stir into sugar mixture. Fold in M&Ms and walnuts.
Drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet, bake at 350 F fro 10 to 13 minutes.

While warm, these cookies were soft and chewy. Now that they have cooled, they are still chewy, but also crunchy. They turned out delicious, not to sweet. I have to admit i used a bit more white than brown sugar. I scraped the jar, and only got the half cup measure about 3/4 full. I had not realized i had no back up, as i almost always do. I just filled the cup with a bit of white sugar. I also only needed one and a half cups flour, i figured no more would go in without making them dry; and only 1/2 cup M&Ms, they just seemed saturated, maybe because i used mini instead of regular.

It did not make much, only 27, but that is plenty for me. I am on my own this week, so they should last into the weekend. This is a delicious cookie, i think i may try it with plain chocolate chip sometime. It is definitely a keeper!

Have a good week, everyone!

  3. Thank you, everyone. :-)
The top picture: i actually found something similar online, and decided instead of stealing it, i could do it myself. The spilled ones were because the flash was creating to much glare off of the plate!
