My name is Natasha. Also known, as egbkid.
I was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. And until I was 11, i lived in Grand Bay (now known as Grand Bay-Westfield). Grand Bay is a beautiful small town about 10 minutes West of Saint John. The summer between fifth and sixth grade, when I was 11, we moved to a spot on the map called Welsford. It is about 20 minutes West of Saint John. When i was about 26, when i was living back at home, we moved again to an even smaller spot on the map called Wirral. It is about 40 minutes West of Saint John. My parents still live there, and I high-tailed it back into the city after just a few months. Wirral is farming country, but i was not into driving 40 minutes each way to work just to save a bit on rent.
Saint John is a beautiful industrialized city, full of call centers. It is the oldest incorporated city in Canada, 2010 marked the 225th anniversary. I live in the downtown area, locally known as Uptown. Supposedly because no matter which way you are coming, you have to go uphill to get there. Two of my favorite places are Uptown: The Saint John City Market, the oldest such in North America, and the Loyalist Burial Grounds. Yup, a graveyard in the middle of the city, it is a beautiful park with ancient tombs. I walk through it at least twice daily, as early as 7 AM and as late as Midnight.
More about me, i guess. I have two sisters, one older, one younger. Yes, I have middle child syndrome. I have no pets, as i am not allowed in this apartment. I had an illegal fish (not even allowed one of them) but i killed it. Not much of an animal person. I have a almost 6 year old nephew, named Kyristan. He prefers to be called K. He is the cutest little five year old on the planet, i am not biased, there are a few folks who will agree with me, and he is super excited to be a big brother come May. I love to bake, read, write, take pictures and sit in the warm sun (covered, i am a red head). Right now, i hate snow and cold. A lot.
My mom and paternal Grandmother were always cooking and baking when i was a kid. One of my earliest memories was standing on a chair stirring KD while my mom showed my baby sister how to knead bread. That was back in the 80s when parents didn't panic so much about kids near the stove. Some of my best memories take place in the kitchen. And every Christmas Eve, we gather at my parents' house and have an open kitchen party.
So far, i have two blogs going. One is fairly new, so give me time and i will add to it. Check them out, and if you like them, don't be shy, click on the follow button. The more the merrier! I have also written a children's book and am looking into getting an illustrator and then a publisher. I have a tween book half written as well.
